Misamis Oriental’s Famous and Must Go-To Springs

Misamis Oriental is abundant in natural bodies of water that are frequently visited by local and foreigners alike. Below are six of the most well-known springs scattered across the province.

Alibuag Spring. Found in Duka, Medina and just two kilometers from Barangay Poblacion, Alibuag has a natural spring as well as a man-made swimming pool that holds the crystal clear water coming from the spring.

Sapong Cold Spring

Sapong Cold Spring. Located in Sition, Barangay Tabok, Lagonglong, which is a five-minute ride from Poblacion, Sapong is a man-made swimming pool with clean and cool running water that flows from the mountain spring. About 1.5 kilometers from the provincial road, Sapong has a food house, a conference hall and picnic cottages and other facilities for its guests.

Tinago Falls

Tinago Spring. Sited 64 kilometers west of Cagayan de Oro City, in Tuod, Manticao, Tinago generally has an abundant source of clear and clean water. However, it requires a strong and healthy endurance to take on the trek to get there.

Linanot Spring. Situated in Libertad, Manticao, about 64 kilometers west of the City of Golden Friendship, the Linanot Spring is among the most vital sources of drinkable water in Manticao. With an environment that resembles an untouched land, it has become among the ideal locations for adventure tourism.

Sagpulon Springs and Falls. In Barangay San Isidro, Jasaan lies the Sagpulon springs and falls that is surrounded by a lush forest. Approximately 31 kilometers east of Cagayan de Oro, Sagpulon is an illustration of the beauty of Mother Nature. In the location, guests can clearly hear the chirping of the birds and be charmed by the virgin forest trees and wild flowers, topped with a natural pool – clear and cool as it flows from the mountainside. Sagpulon also has rest houses and cottages for its visitors, which makes it more appealing for the vacationers and picnickers.

Kagay-an Resort

Kagay-an Resort. Formerly known as Lawndale Spring, the Kagay-an Resort was named after the Cagayan de Oro sister city in California in the United States. Sited six kilometers south of Taguanao, Macasandig, the spring is bordered by 100-year-old trees. It produces 600 gallons of bracing cold water each minute. The 90 feet, 4 meter and 26 centimeter-wide pool is normally packed with groups and families on Saturdays and Sundays as it is a perfect way to spend the weekend.

Since its recent renovation, the Kagay-an Resort has been under close maintenance by the government for tourism purposes. It has likewise added new swimming areas for adults and kids, with lifeguards close by.

Another exciting feat about the resort, which is probably the most famous spring and resort in Cagayan de Oro City, is that the entrance fee is only five pesos for adults and two pesos for kids. The resort is strictly open on weekends between seven in the morning and five in the afternoon. And due to its tight maintenance, pets, liquor and loud stereos and speakers are not allowed inside.
