Cagayan de Oro City is known for its bounty natural resources and it has already become a melting pot of all the produce in Mindanao. Cagayan de Oro as the center for trading and businesses, the reason why many investors would come here and invest, it’s because Cdo is a peaceful place and the standard of living is cheaper compared to other places in Mindanao.
When typhoon Sendong came to Cagayan de Oro City, it shocked and stunned the cagay – anons. Many people died and lost their houses. Sendong paralyzed Cagayan for two months, there were no water and electricity. Some parts of the city that are not affected were still suffering because of lack of water supply. Many parts of Cagayan de oro were affected by the typhoon Sendong. Many cagay – anons lost their loved ones, houses, and properties. Sendong made a massive destruction in Cagayan de Oro and some parts of Mindanao.
Now after three months of struggling Cagayan de Oro City rises again to be more productive and competitive city in Mindanao. Many investors came in to invest new business here in the city proper. More and more job opportunities opened for the cagay – anons. Cagay – anons were so thankful for some private sectors that extend their hands to help the typhoon Sendong victims to start all over again. They prove themselves that Filipinos are of one heart and one mind to help the needy. Many foreigners who were touched by the homeless victims of Sendong and they really made an effort to help the victims in giving water and food.
Harvest LLC is a BPO company run by a foreign investor who helped the victims of Sendong. Michael Alan Turner as the CEO of the company decided to help the cagay – anons by giving water and food to them. He felt sorry for all the victims and so for his employees who were also victims of the said typhoon. They sacrificed a lot going to different places that are really hard to reach through transportation because of the thick mud and most of the roads are hard to pass because of some debris and logs that were washed by the typhoon but still they manage and have a big heart to help the victims. All the effort that they exerted was paid off when everything went ok for a few weeks, the employees were back again and ready to work hard for Harvest LLC.
Cagayan de Oro City is considered to be the melting pot of Mindanao. And accessibility; industrial growth, commerce, and tourism are the main economic sources of the city.
