Starbucks CDO Now Open
Some two days before Starbucks CDO formally opened, we were able to take pictures of the world famous coffeehouse. Below are the shots that we took. Starbucks CDO opened its doors to Kagay-anons this morning, October 30, at LimKetKai Center. The coffeehouse is the first in Mindanao.
Here’s a closer view of the famous Starbucks emblem. You might wonder why the company uses a mythical creature as their trademark image; besides, what does a twin-tailed siren have anything to do with coffee? Well, here’s a little history lesson for you. The famous yet mysterious Starbucks logo was actually derived from a 17th century woodcut of a Nordic creature. The symbolism of the twin-tailed siren compares the company’s brand of coffee to the kind of irresistible and seductive traits a mermaid has. Whereas the mermaid lures sailors, Starbucks coffee lures, well, people.
In addition to this, the origin of the company’s logo (which has been used for 35 years) can be traced back to the company’s Northwest Pacific heritage.
The customer parking signs were lined right at the left side of the establishment prior to the October 30 grand opening.
This is how the coffeehouse’s main entrance looks like from afar. And yes, those are men with paintbrushes, doing some finishing touches right before the establishment’s grand opening.
Here’s a semi-front view of the entire establishment. For those who haven’t been to the place yet, Starbucks is located right at the corner of the street facing MacDonald’s LimKetKai. It has a really accessible location as most vehicles pass by the area.
This is how the right side of the coffeehouse looks like from across the street.
Now that Starbucks is finally here, Kagay-anons have a new coffee place to love. Aside from their amazing coffee, Kagay-anons will surely love their baked goods, paninis, sandwiches, salads and other mouthwatering concoctions. Our next wish is to see Starbucks alongside bookstores like Fully Booked and Powerbooks – just like the ones we go to in Manila. For now, though, Kagay-anons are just delighted (and excited!) that the world’s best coffee is finally in the city of golden friendship.
Welcome to Cagayan de Oro, Starbucks! Fellow Kagay-anons, let’s go have coffee!
