What’s the Deal With FitFlops?

Teenagers and young adults nowadays like to own at least one pair of sandals, and love to wear them especially in the summer. Sandals are sometimes preferred more compared to other kinds of footwear as they mainly spell comfort. Yet with flip-flops becoming an increasing trend, it is sometimes difficult to find the right pair that has the most comfortable fit; one that goes right under the budget.

Enter FitFlops sandals

You would be mistaken if you think that FitFlops are just ordinary sandals. There is a reason why they are called “fit.” According to UK biomechanical engineers, these quality sandals cannot only provide wearers with comfort, they can also tone the wearers’ thighs, calves, legs and buttocks. FitFlops, which are made similar to a “barefoot technology” shoe, are specially created to ease the stress on your legs, back, and feet with its uniquely engineered multi-density midsole and Microwobbleboard technology.

Reports gathered from sandal wearers showed that FitFlops relieved them from various pains and illness such as chronic back pain, heel spurs, sciatica, restless leg syndrome or RLS, osteoarthritis, degenerative disc disease and scoliosis.

The sandals were even independently studied at Salford University, Manchester by Dr. Richard Jones and Dr. Philip Graham Smith. Moreover, its effectiveness has been affirmed by the APMA (American Podiatric Medical Association).

How do they work?

Easy. It drives the muscles that stabilize your feet to work harder, eventually strengthening them.

Compared to FitFlops, the common flip-flops cause pronation, a process that involves the rolling in of the feet that in turn results to biomechanical stress and fatigue in the lower legs and feet. This can further lead to injuries such as posterior tibial tendonitis and plantar fasciitis, generally known as fallen arches and arch fatigue. In addition, ordinary flip-flops have the tendency to increase great toe joint stress and accelerate bunion formation.

Due to the damage most normal flip-flops cause, FitFlops were developed to avoid and counter the mentioned risks, by increasing the bottom and leg muscle activity up to 30%; absorbing shock up to 22% and assisting in the realignment of ground force reaction nearer to your joints.

Are FitFlop sandals the answer to becoming fit?

While they may help significantly in terms of burning a few calories in your everyday routine, FitFlops is, however, not the cure-all for your workout woes. They are just the better substitutes for the conventional flip-flops. Moreover, when wearing FitFlops, they should be worn on a regular basis to get the best out of the advantages.
